The title of this book originates from a three month period spent by the author in a cottage at Bendigo Creek Cromwell, Central Otago during part of the winter of 1999.
Letter writing to old hunting mates and friends during the long winter evenings started a series of memories of good times and bad. After nearly 40 years as a professional hunter there were a few.
Bendigo Creek was a return to some of the best country. The people wonderfully sociable and friendly.... the climate with hoar frosts, snow and ice. The little cottage on the banks of the Clutha River provided the comforts of home including a pot belly stove. A walk al;ong the river bank with a .22 provided rabbits for the pot.
He revisited some of the old hunting grounds and hunting mates, during his stay - the Matukituki, Makarora, Neck Creek and Hunter Valley, not to mention the Cardrona Valley.
The result.....from the author to you - "A letter from Bendigo Creek".
